General

This digitalSTROM application allows you to control your Sonos speaker easily and conveniently by means of digitalSTROM.

Start your favourite music using the Audio button (fitted, for example, with an SW-TKM 2XX, on which an input has been set to audio) or integrate music into any activities in the house.

You can also start and stop music automatically using the digitalSTROM timer, for example for falling asleep or waking up. Furthermore, you can be alerted about events by means of self-selected music or signal tones, such as for ringing, in case of panic or a fire alarm.

Preconditions

  1. The Sonos system must already be fully configured by means of a Sonos smartphone or PC app.
  2. Playlists and favourites must be defined in the Sonos system.
  3. To use the library and voice output, the dSS must be connected to your my.digitalSTROM account.
  4. The Sonos speakers must be assigned to a digitalSTROM room in the tab of the same name. The speakers are detected by an automatic search function.

Functionality

The app enables Sonos speakers to respond to any digitalSTROM activities. You can either save audio presets in the room with your favourites or any activities can be used as a trigger. A current title or the current list can be recorded or any favourites and playlists can be selected. Additionally, signal tones can be selected from a library.

Texts can be converted directly into speech and played back if necessary using the "Voice output" function. Furthermore, the music can be stopped, started or muted via commands.

Audio buttons

digitalSTROM buttons with Joker function (SW-TKM, second button of the GE-SDS200) can be set to the Audio function. Music is started or stopped with just 1 click. You start the defined music by clicking repeatedly and can vary the volume by pressing and holding down the button.

'Presets' tab

Here, you can define the music you would like for the audio presets of each room.

By default, the configuration of pause and play is given for each room. The presets 2-4, 12-14, 22-24, 32-34 and 42-44 can be configured with radio stations or with music of your choice.

The presets can be opened on the smartphone in the 'dS Dashboard' app using the Audio button or Favourites.

Functions are available for creating, editing, deactivating, testing and deleting the moods.

The appropriate trigger and the music to be played are defined for each preset. The entered name is also allocated to the preset in the digitalSTROM system so that it can be seen directly in the smartphone app. The default volume can be entered optionally when opening the preset.

'Activities' tab

Any digitalSTROM activities can be defined as a trigger for playing back music or commands.

Functions are available in this tab for creating, editing, deactivating, testing and deleting the activities.

Choose the necessary trigger to add or modify an activity. Then, under 'What To Play', select the desired music, a radio station, a signal sound from the sound library, a text for the voice output or a command.

The volume can be set to a desired value for the selected music.

If the music or a signal tone should only play for a certain period of time or be repeated, the duration can be defined. Alarm tones should be repeated for a maximum of 3 minutes.

The previous music can be played back after an activity (such as a ringtone). The length of single music tracks or favourites is determined automatically. If this is not possible, (e.g. for playlists or radio), the time must be entered manually. In the case of activities such as alarms or panic that are reset selectively, the previous music track is reactivated on request when resetting.

You can define in which rooms the music should be played back for each activity. If music is played back in several rooms, a time delay may occur between the rooms. This can be prevented if the music is played in a common group. If this parameter is selected, a group is created in the Sonos system where the music is then played synchronously by Sonos in all selected rooms. This option can further delay the execution of the activity, however.

'Sonos Speaker' tab

This tab displays the available Sonos speakers and enables the logical allocation to one room.

If the 'Search for Sonos speaker automatically' function is selected, Sonos will search for existing speakers in the network and display them sorted according to room allocation. If the speakers are not found, the IP address of a speaker can also be entered manually. The information for all existing speakers is then read out.

A digitalSTROM room must be allocated to each Sonos room so that the speaker can respond to moods and activities. The appropriate room can easily be defined using the 'allocate room' function.
